Computers!

Ever since I was a child I was always interested in computers. I had the fortunate experience to build PC's for my family, friends, and I. I am familiar with computer hardware.

Recently I branched out to learning more about Web Development and completed a online course that covered HTML, CSS, and more.

I am currently enrolled in TestOut (acquired by CompTIA) Security Pro Course

Mind Over Body!

A huge proponent contributing to my overall physical and mental wellbeing is the practice of mindfulness. Here are two of my favorite self-management practices that build stress tolerance.

One tool I use is practicing and cultivating mindfulness is sitting meditation. I have been an daily user of the app Headspace user for 2 years.

In addition, I use the Wim Hof Method s which uses a combination of breathing exercises, cold exposure, and meditation. There is substantial science behind its benefits. It also has its own app.

Master Classes!

I purchased a Masterclass subscription with the help of UVIC's professional development fund.

So far I have completed 6 masterclasses all teaching a variety of cross disciplinary skills from world class teachers in different industries.

I was particularly interested in Chris Voss's 'The Art of Negotiation' and Daniel Pink's 'Sales and Persuasion'  as they introduce a variety of communication tactics applicable to both ones personal and professional life.

Climbing!

I have been climbing for over 2 years and it has quickly became my favorite form of psychical activity.

It encompasses a full body workout and engages your mind as you problem solve the climbing routes/problems. It is also a social sport and has a very friendly community all cheering for your success!

Let me know if you want to try climbing!

Humor!

I believe humor is a effective tool that can be leveraged to improve productivity and contribute to a positive workplace culture. Who doesn't like to laugh?

I am a big fan of Andrew Tarvin's business 'humor that works'. They have helped more than 250 organizations around the world use humor to achieve success and happiness in the world place. I have attended a few of his humor writing workshops to help tune up my humor!
